How to make Healthy, Strong & Colorful Guppies for Export market

The Guppy ( Poecilia reticulate ) also known as million fish is one of the most popular freshwater aquarium fish in the world. Guppies are the most diversely coloured aquarium fish which creates an attractive market for suppliers of guppies in the word. Sri Lanka is popular in producing quality aquarium fish because of the condition of the water (pH level) and the climate of the country. Most of the suppliers in the industry are producing Guppies to supply to the international market.

Our main goal is to supply high quality guppies to the export market. In order to maintain the quality we use internal controls and procedures at every stage of our production flow. From the production to the export the process is going through four main steps.

Selecting & Maintaining High Quality Brood /Parent Stock

We are maintaining a high quality, colorful and genetically strong parent stock with number of varieties. The parent stock is regularly going though quality checks in our laboratory by well trained employees using microscopes to find out whether the stock is affected with any internal or external parasites. Any stock affects with parasites discard immediately and healthy, colourful strong parent guppies are ready for next step of the production. Providing a better environment for the parent stock is helping us for maintain the quality of our products. In order to get healthy seeds we never exceed the maximum quantity per tank to control the biomass. We always take extra care about the water, foods and nutrition we used in the parent stock. We are maintaining Ammonia (NH 3 ) and Nitrate (NO 3 ) free water condition in our tanks using water plants and aerations.

Investigate the bacterial count of the Parent stock is very important to maintain health of our stock. We do Antibiotic Sensitive Test (AST) in every 6 month to check and maintain the health level.

Nursery Production

Artemia (Brine Shrimp)

In the nursery production, one day old healthy seeds are taking into nursery tanks. We never exceed the maximum quantity per tank to provide proper environment for growth of the seeds and they are keeping in the tank for 20 to 30 days. We use Artemia (Brine Shrimp) and powder feeds to produce healthy and strong seeds at this stage.  Same as in the parent stock we take extra care about food, water and nutrition in the nursery production level. To maintain proper water conditions, in addition to the use of water plant and aerations, we change the water and siphon the waste in every week as per an internal schedule. We do number of sample checks in the laboratory during this period to make sure the seeds are in healthy condition.

Sorting & Growing Program

In this stage, around 20 to 30 days old seeds are taking into separate growing tanks, after sorting according to the gender by well experience employees of the company. Sorting is very important part of our production process as it facilitates to maintain proper growth of male guppies.

As in all other stages of our production process maintain of water condition is very important in order to produce a healthy and colorful fish. In addition to the usual foods we use vitamins, nutrition's and growth promoters to obtain the buyer's quality requirement.

We do weekly test for health, growth and colour of the growing stock until it is ready for the export process. Our experienced employees always maintain the quality of the products to supply best products to the export market.   

Export

Once the growth stock is ready for export we transfer them to our export division. The export division contains large glass tanks to check the condition of guppies on regular basis. Here we do a proper condition check on colour, body shape and tail of guppies. After checking the condition of the fish we do another sorting according to the size of the guppies to maintain an even stock and take them into separate tanks with low density before it make ready for export. On the shipment date, we do a health check and all healthy, strong and colorful guppies pack according to the requirement of the buyer.

Packing

We always pack fish to minimize the freight costs and importantly excellent arrival conditions, to ensure minimum mortality. LL specimens are packed in pressurized oxygenated double bags. the bags are packed in styrofoam boxes and density will be according to the customer needs and destination. Payments

All payments in form of telegraphic transfer or through LC should be directed to our bankers. advance payments will be required for the first two or three shipments. there after delivery on credit basis can be negotiated.

All prices are quoted in us Dollars ( US $) FOB Colombo .

Order

Customers could order based on the price list and if necessary on the regular stock lists which you will receive by e - mail. there is no minimum quantity. but the customers are advised to make it at least shipments consists of 10 boxes in order to get cheaper freight rates and discount.
